The sugarcane industry is one of the most flourishing segments of the Brazilian Economy. With a production of up to 624 million metric tonnes of sugarcane in the 2017 harvest season, the country holds the world record production for both sugar and ethanol from this raw material. A broader view reveals that more than 37 million tonnes of sugar and 27 million cubic meters of ethanol were produced to meet national and expanding global demand.
The 6th edition of the international trade fair EXPOMINA was held from September 12th to 14th in Lima (Peru). Within just a few years this exhibition has developed into one of the largest worldwide and most significant mining trade fairs in Latin America. A comprehensive range of heavy machinery, equipment and services were presented on an exhibition area totaling 47,000 m². Like previous trade fairs the event was again hosted in the Centro de Exposiciones Jockey.
Bulk material handling is an engineering field that is centered on designing and manufacturing of special equipment utilized to handle mainly dry materials such as ores, grains, sand, gravel and stone in loose bulk form. Mineral production, for instance, depends on a great quantity of bulk material handling equipment in order to move an impressive portion of the iron and copper ore productions in the world. In the following we want to explain how hydrodynamic couplings operate and how they can improve the MTTR of bulk material handling equipment drives.
The 17th edition of the biannually held EXPOSIBRAM took place from September 18th to 21st in Belo Horizonte (MG), Brazil. With a floorspace of 12.000 m², this exhibition is considered one of the greatest mining events in South America, gathering representives of government authorities, contractors as well as private organizations in the same place. EXPOSIBRAM also hosts the Brazilian Mining Congress, which is organized by IBRAM (Brazilian Mining Association).
